It is with mixed emotions we announce that Verna Haas, Executive Director of Contra Costa Senior Legal Services (CCSLS) will be stepping down from her position as of June 2020. We understand she desires to begin her retirement, and we are so grateful for her amazing leadership and service to CCSLS over the past six years.
During her tenure, CCSLS has grown and strengthened as an organization. It continues to fight for the legal rights of older adults in Contra Costa by helping to mediate poverty and improve health outcomes for our clients. Currently, CCSLS serves over 1,100 seniors annually and has an annual budget over $550,000. Through Verna’s vision and creativity, CCSLS has built several collaborations with many key nonprofit partner organizations across the county to increase our reach. As a result of her leadership, the organization is in a strong financial position with an active board.
Verna’s dedication and integrity have been an inspiration to both staff and board. We will keep you informed of our plans to honor Verna prior to her departure, and of course we wish her well in her future endeavors.
